Q – When will the next volume be ready for purchase? The next volume, A Light to the Nations: The Making of the Modern World, is slated for release in early 2011. Q – Why do I need Catholic textbooks that are not religion books? All over the country, dioceses, bishops and superintendents are calling for a return to “Catholic Identity” in our schools. The number one mission goal for the archdiocese of Washington DC is “Catholic Identity.” The Western Catholic Education Association just passed a resolution to include “Catholic Identity” as an essential element of accreditation for Catholic schools. In the tract The Holy See’s Teaching On Catholic Schools, Catholic identity is achieved, in part, through a curriculum infused by the truth of the Catholic Faith. This is the newest and greatest need in Catholic schools, and we are the forefront of providing “Catholic Tools for Catholic Schools”. ® Q – What can I do to get these books into my child’s school?
Q – What is included in the Teacher’s Guide? The Teacher’s Guide includes outlines, timeline information, lists of key words and key people, quizzes, tests, chapter summaries, suggested related literature titles and other reference works for research projects, extra activities, pronunciation guides, and other information. Q – When will another textbook be printed and for which grade level? Vol. 8, A Light to the Nations: The Making of the Modern World, is now in production, for release in early 2011. This textbook covers history from the Enlightenment of the 18th century to the late 20th century. It is suitable for grades 8-10. Q – Will a Teacher’s Guide be printed to accompany Volume 8? Yes. Q – Will you be offering student workbooks? Yes, for all volumes. Currently, our first workbook is now available, for From Sea to Shining Sea. Q – When will other volumes be available? Please continue to check back since we will continue to update this website as new information becomes available. Volumes suitable for grades 1-4 are currently in the pre-production phase and should be available by the Fall of 2012. Q – How can I get updated information on this series of texts? Will I be notified when the new textbooks are in print and ready to order? We will update you on our next textbooks on our web site. The site is updated monthly. Q – How much do textbooks and teacher’s guides cost? Texts are currently priced well below the standard textbook competition, at only $55.00. Teacher’s editions are $29.95. Q – How can I get on your mailing list? Please send your name, title, school (if applicable), e-mail, phone number, and mailing address to: mvh@CatholicTextbookProject.com You may also call us toll-free at 866/458-3332, or fax us at 203/286-1270. The best way for you to check on our progress is to check our web site periodically to see what’s new or to send us an email. Q – Will you be doing anything other than History textbooks? We will be working on both science and language arts textbooks following completion of the social studies/history books. It is essential to get sound scientific thought, with the essential deference to our Creator and loving God, to our children in Catholic schools so we can educate well prepared young people to think through the myriad moral-science issues that face ours and future generations. Similarly, we must give our Catholic school students every edge in the world, since they are called to be apostles. Hence, they need to have a broad understanding of the body of excellent literature and become masters of the written and spoken word. CSTP will make this possible with a first rate language arts program based on the time-honored traditions of literature and grammar, logic and rhetoric.
